Like several other customers I have moved on from Nitro. I was very happy when it was PDFPen Pro and priced reasonably. Their new pricing structure sent me elsewhere. While I destest subscriptions (renting the use of software), I have been pleasantly surprised with PDF Expert. At least there is a fairly reasonable lifetime purchase for it with the StackSocial.com discount.

I have been a user of PDFpen Pro for 20 years or so. But after this company called "Nitro" took over this app, everything got worse and worse. Also, the app has become obscenely more expensive compared to previous versions. Still, it crashes several times a day and can't even complete simple tasks without crashing. Support either doesn't respond at all or responds with queries that obviously should give the impression that they are interested in solving the issue. However, no critical bugs have been fixed for over a year now. Nevertheless, they release new versions (and charge for them) that still contain all the reported bugs from the previous version. So don't waste your time and money, hands off this company's software!

I've been a user of Smile PDFpenPro for years... when they changed over, I didn't hear NUFIN'! And I've tried contacting "nitro" with regard to updates/pricing and never get a person to talk to... Nitro done blew up! So I'm looking for another program to replace it... any suggestions?

The new Nitro PDF Pro v13.67.0.45 is a great addition for those who use SharePoint Online regularly. The SharePoint Online Extension makes it easier to work with PDFs stored in SharePoint, and the full price is a bit much, but there are discounts available: https://proscost.com/nitro-pdf-pro/

v13.2.1 is the current version. Marketing at Nitro has renamed the PDFPen series, if only to confuse their customers. PDFPen is now 'Nitro PDF Pro Essentials'. PDFPen Pro is now 'Nitro PDF Pro.' The version numbers have stayed the same. - - I've personally moved on to PDF Expert as my goto PDF editing app. The price is more sane. The app is more reliable and easy to use. The updates are regular without being charged a gauging upgrade fee.
